Role and Responsibilities

 

Under new leadership, in this team you will find collaboration, commitment, energy and drive but also room for professional growth in strategic and external communications, digital storytelling, media relations and stakeholder engagement within a dynamic, mission-driven environment. It entails a high degree of ownership and autonomy in shaping and delivering key external (and internal) communications initiatives, with support and strategic direction from the Head of Communications and Public Affairs.

 

  • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive external communication plans to enhance the company's public image and brand reputation.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, key opinion makers/leaders and influencers to ensure a meaningful and positive perception of the company's mission, purpose, businesses and initiatives.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation of press releases, media kits, newsletters, one pager, op ed’s and other communication materials to effectively convey the company's messages to external audiences.
  • Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to manage and help mitigate potential issues that may arise.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor media coverage and public perception of the company and provide regular reports and analysis to senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, sales, and executive leadership, to ensure alignment and consistency in all forms of communication.

 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Excellent communication skills: Strong writing and storytelling skills in Portuguese and English and a huge drive for creating clear and engaging content on complex topics.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to align communications with organizational goals and audience needs.
  • Proactivity: Solution-focused mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, take initiative, and drive projects forward independently.
  • Creativity: Willingness to challenge the status quo constructively and develop innovative communication approaches.
  • Attention to detail: High standards for accuracy and quality in all deliverables.
  • Organizational skills: Strong time and project management, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability and Growth Mindset: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience in External Communications: fair knowledge and networking within the Portuguese media landscape. 5-10 years of experience in External communications, ideally in a Corporate or Agency environment.
  • Analytics mindset: Ability to interpret and act on performance data from digital channels to improve content and engagement.
  • Collaboration and stakeholder engagement/management: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing media relations and crisis communication.
  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or similar.
  • Journalism as past experience also valuable
